The Ukrainian mass-market brand of women’s clothing JUL has teamed up with the ethnographic visual diary Ukrainian Folks to create a folklore collaboration.

The main goal of the collaboration was the integration of Ukrainian folklore into the current context. For JUL and Ukrainian Folks, three Ukrainian folk songs and one romance were used: “Galya Carries Water”, “Oh, in the Cherry Orchard”, “Why You Haven’t Come” and “Black Eyebrows, Brown Eyes” – a romance by the author Kostyantyn Dumitrashka, which, through widespread popularity, often blatantly considered folk composition.

All of the songs’ names were incorrectly translated to English by streaming services. JUL x Ukrainian Folks decided to use these translations in their collection to reintegrate those songs into modern fashion.
