Glasses: Ochis

Ochis is a Ukrainian brand that creates ecological glasses from coffee. For the founder of Ochis - Max, the love for glasses, as well as the story of his life, began with his parents - Olia and Kolia , who met at the Izyum Optical and Mechanical Plant (IOMZ). When Max became a second-year student, he realized that education was of no use to him - everything seemed unnecessary. Then he started helping his father in the repair shop. Hundreds of glasses ranging in price from $5 to $2,000 have passed through his and his dad's hands, and now this knowledge helps to perfect the technology of creating Ochis. The firm conviction that plastic causes irreparable damage to the planet forced Max to dive headlong into the search for an environmentally friendly material. And this path was not easy. In his first attempts to create an alternative to plastic, he used a combination of cellulose acetate and cork. These frames looked cool, but they still didn't have uniqueness. During this period, Max's girlfriend at the time came to his workshop and offered to try the coffee bean press cake. It took him 300 test plates to make a solid base for cutting the frames, and even then the first samples of the glasses crumbled in his hands. But tenacity and a sense of the importance of his work pushed him forward, and six months later the first prototypes of the future Ochis appeared.
